TDS
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is the sum of all microscopic substances in your pool water. High TDS can interfere with the effectiveness of sanitizers and cause cloudy water.
- TDS encompasses all chemical residues, including sanitizers, algaecides, and natural debris.
- High TDS levels can reduce the efficiency of your pool chemicals, leading to cloudy water or reduced sanitation.
- Too high TDS may lead to scale formation, staining, and a salty taste.
- Regular monitoring of TDS levels is important. If levels are too high, partial or full water replacement may be needed.
- Most pools should maintain TDS levels below 1500 ppm. For saltwater pools, the acceptable TDS level may be much higher, often up to 4500-6000 ppm.
